We were two families sharing this house, 2 couples and three late teen/early twenty kids. Our daughters told me this was best family vacation we've ever done. Tops all inclusive penthouse in Cancun last year, Turks and Caicos, Outer Banks and Tortola Villa. We had to charter a private Albury ferry from Marsh Harbor to our private dock on White Sound because we had a late evening arrival - the approach to the dock at sunset with the house lights on and our caretaker waiting to help us onpack was a first class welcome that made us immediatley happy with our house selection. Hopetown Markets had already delivered most of the groceries and they were put away when we arrived.Location, location, location - the views were stunning, and although serindipitous, my wife and I enjoyed morning coffees reading in the rockers on front porch overlooking the blue/green turquoise water on the ocean coral reef to the east. The wrap around porch was a big plus for us. The pool was large and wonderful, but we so enjoyed the little sandy private beach on White Sound, with ample choice between shade and sun areas, that we went there more than to the pool. All the home appliances one could need, ice maker was a great surprise, dishwasher, washer and dryer and the air conditioning was superb, automatically kicking on when power was lost a few times. We never noticed the power problems. Nice flat screen TV in family great room. Kitchen well laid out and well stocked. The outside property features made the house so fantastic, the winding stairs down to sound beach hut and dock. We had a beautiful 26 boat from Seahourse that they delivered to our dock the following morning and we then returned it to their location at Marsh Harbor on our departure, saving transfering luggage by golf cart and a ferry ride back to Marsh Harbor. Property manager and caretaker arranged for golf carts, groceries and boat for us. We loved "carting" around the island all week and made easy boat jaunts to Man-O War, Guana, Treasure Cay, Marsh Harbor, Mermaid Reef and Lubbers, going on some adventure almost every day. SeaHorse boat rental was tops.Inside the house is just a "smidgen" dated and could be freshened up just a little, but we had no instances to really complain about and way this place was built and laid out worked beautifully with us. The thoughts and visions that created this beautiful home and how it blends into the island were certainly enjoyed by our family. Ample towels, beach towels, etc. Two bedrooms downstairs with kings, upstairs two bedrooms each with two queens?doubles with a shared hallway bath. Everyone enjoyed the private office off the master bedroom with free internet phone service and free internet, also a phone for making free local island calls. Most dinner arrangements made by provided base VHF marine radio. Entertainment center had combo dvd/VHS player with several tapes, but bring a few DVDs jsut in case of storms, otherwise you'll be outside. One of our daily goals was to be on the porch with a cocktail at sunset time, they were spectacular. And of course, this is the Bahamas and the waters lived up to their reputation, crystal clear and 'just right' warm temperatures. Our favorite repeat spot was the sand bar just about 2 miles SW of white sound, we met a lot of other people sitting in the water there enjoying a cool refreshment or two. The Bahamian people are the friendliest most sincere people we ever meet.We did not see another place a that could come close to Paradise and it's double view of the sound and the ocean- we would not have traded for any other location we saw anywhere during the week on any of the islands visited. Many visits to Abaco Inn, Sea Spray Harbor and "on da Beach" where we enjoyed many many conversations with staff and other vacationers. Just a top first rate vacation sealed with a wonderful house selection.
Dear Larry,
Thank you so much for the glowing review of Paradise. It sure sounds like your family enjoyed the islands very much. You made me want to book a trip and I live here!
The homeowner is from Alabama and I think the rockers are a "southern" touch but the guests love to rock and enjoy the view.
Great hints about Sea Horse boat rental and I love also that Hope Town Hideaways and your caretaker were able to get your house stocked for you, especially with a late arrival.
Hope Town is a special place and it does bring family together as you are enjoying this beautiful setting - peaceful and just old-fashioned fun.
We look forward to having you back on the island very soon. You may not get to book Paradise again as your review was so glowing it may encourage every one else to book ahead of you!
