Rain - An award-winning movie filmed in the Bahamas.

Rain will appear on the Showtime network on February 18th and 19th at 8pm; and  again on February 20th at 6:15pm; the  22nd at 8pm; and the 23rd at 1:35am. The Bahamian director tells the story of a young Bahamian girl raised by her grandmother in the out islands.  When her grandmother dies so rides the mailboat in search of her mother in Nassau.  It is not a happy reunion as her mother lives in a shanty town part of the Bahamas capital.  Enjoy the Bahamas scenery and a story line of overcoming prejudices and life's hard-knocks.

Abaco Blue Holes on PBS documentary.

Some of our favorite family outings have been to the Blue Holes,  the inland mainland of Great Abaco and in the water just off of Little Harbour.  Discover the Secret Depths after a year long study by scientists working for National Geographic.  The program is on Tuesday, February 9 on PBS at 8 p.m. EST. Sweeting's Grocery closed.

Just wanted to share that the Sweeting's Grocery near White Sound is no longer open.  We still have three very well-stocked stores in Hope Town including Vernon's Grocery & Bakery and Harbourview Grocery as well as LVA Convenience Store.  Vernon of course, has a lot of specialty cheeses, olives, fruits & veggies as well as his famous bakery - I can smell that hot Bahamian bread now! Harbourview with healthy Thomas leading the way has a great selection of organics and just healthy whole grain selections along with the ice cream, cookies, hot dogs, etc. LVA is open later and really, you can cook a meal from LVA's inventory from steak and chicken to potatoes, lettuce, onion and sour cream.  At Hope Town Hideaways we are happy to arrange grocery delivery, e-mail or contact us today if we can help take one more thing off your holiday TO DO list!
