Friends of the Environment and the Abaco Cancer Society Host the first annual Kayak Challenge on October 15th

Friends of the Environment and the Abaco Cancer Society are working together to present Abaco’s first annual Kayak Challenge on October 15th at Abaco Beach Resort. We’re thrilled to be organizing a positive, healthy event for Abaco to benefit two great local causes. All monies raised will be split equally between the two groups and will stay in Abaco to benefit the local community. We hope this event will only grow and plan to have people from around the Bahamas attend, we already have interest from persons in Nassau and Eleuthera.

Any craft you can paddle will be welcome, from kayaks, paddle boards and canoes – just no engines! There will be 3 courses to choose from: 20 miles, 12 miles, or 7 miles. Support boats will be on hand to assist paddlers, make sure they stay on course and provide water and snacks. Paddlers will be welcomed back with a beach party. Boat Harbour will be offering a bar and grill. Music will start at 1 with New Entry playing at 4 p.m.

We hope that we can count on your support for the event. For a donation of $500 you may post your company’s banner the day of the event and your name will appear on the event t shirt. A contribution can be made in the form of a minimum $500 donation to the event or by sponsoring paddlers $500 for the challenge. Please let us know by Friday, September 23rd as we need to finalize the t shirts by the end of September.

More information about the event is available: or or on Facebook. Your support will go a long way towards making the event an even greater success! Thank you for your consideration.
